Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V - Blue dial
VACHERON CONSTANTIN OVERSEAS 4500V
Steel | Blue dial
One of the oldest players on the pitch, Vacheron Constantin was founded in 1755 in Geneva by Jean-Marc Vacheron, who was only in his early twenties at the time. Vacheron, known to be a good friend of philosophers Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Voltaire – sharing an interest in ideas centered around the intellectual movement of the time, reflected both in science and watchmaking – passed his watchmaking spirit and horological complications archive on towards his son and grandson Jacques-Barthélemy, who started his collaboration with François Constantin in 1819.
It remarked the continuation of a watchmaking journey infused by enlightenment and a beginning of a new chapter of the brand, carrying forth its new name and innovative ethos until today.
The design at hand dates back to 1977 when the Vacheron Constantin 222 has been launched for the brand’s 222nd anniversary. Ever since been it has been one of the competitors of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus. The modern equivalent, the Overseas 4500V, has been launched in 2016 (third in its generation), stemming from the design by Dino Modolo – an independent designer in charge of many Vacheron Constantin pieces at the time of its original release in 1996 – and Vincent Kaufmann, an in-house designer.
It is considered a contemporary icon and a future classic at the same time. Launched at the same time in three editions, produced with a blue, silver and chestnut dial (the latter was replaced in 2017 for a black dial).
Today the Overseas 4500V collection in steel comes with a silver, blue or black dial. It is especially the blue dial model at hand, recently coined a boutique only edition, that attracts worldwide attention: connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike have to sign up on a waiting list to lay their hands on this blue beauty on the wrist.
With this Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V a dress and classic sports watch are merged into an up to the minute horological statement. The steel watch, with a blue sunburst dial, date at 3 and satin and polished finished case, bezel and bracelet edges perfectly suit an active state of mind.
Its bezel design, a serrated profile reflecting a broken Maltese Cross, inspired by the emblem of Vacheron Constantin, gives the watch a distinctive touch and strong character. The cross is also subtly depicted in the design of the steel bracelet, coming with an exquisitely-finished clasp. The watch is water resistant thanks to the screw-down crown.
The exquisite blue dial is rendered in a smooth, sunburst finish, coming to life when the light falls on it. The dial makes this sport piece a rare find, hence a unique enrichment of any collection. The hands and index-markers are manufactured in a modern style and are luminous for superior legibility.
Next to the integrated bracelet in stainless steel, there is also a caoutchouc (rubber) strap and a crocodile leather strap available in the set. The slim profile of the case and bracelet truly hugs the wrist. Another comfortable and smart feature of this watch is the interchangeable bracelet system. No more watchmaker visits or fighting your strap at home: the Overseas 4500V has got you covered with a quick-release system. Simply push a button between the lugs to release the bracelet and change it, making it even more versatile to wear.
Another smart feature is the summer and winter position of the bracelet, offering a 3mm range for extra comfort, perfectly blending in with the active lifestyle of its wearer.
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500v houses an automatic movement – caliber 5100 – with an oscillating weight in 22K gold, inspired by the wind rose, reflecting the spirit of travel. With its 4,7 mm thickness, the self-winding 37-jewel movement, is visible through the sapphire caseback. It consists of 172 parts, has a power reserve of 60 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
The watch is in very good condition, showing almost no wear, and has perfect mechanical functionality. It comes with the steel bracelet, unworn rubber strap and unworn crocodile strap including dedicated folding clasp that can be used on both the rubber and leather strap. It comes with original movement and as a full set (2019).
