Rolex Daytona 116520 "Panna dial"

Sold

The earliest in-house Rolex Daytona 116520 with white dials slowly turn into a pale cream or "Panna"colour. Only found in a fairly tight serial range, the "Panna" dials are being noted as the next 'Patrizzi'

In 2000, Rolex launched the Daytona 116520, featuring a fully in-house calibre and with minor aesthetic modification to the dial compared to it successor, the 16520. After a fews years, it was noticed that even these new models can present tropicalisation. The phenomenon would appear to occur only on some examples made between 2000 and 2002 (P, K and Y serial numbers) with white dial. With time, the bright white dials noticed to become off-white, cream or even pink. Because it only occurs on the first two years of the production (2000-2002), it is a fair assumption that either Rolex itself or the supplier realised the defect and rectified the situation.

Considering the appeal and collectability on tropical dials, Panna dials 116520 are becoming one of the most sought-after variations of the modern Rolex production, and certainly destined to be more and more actively hunted down.

This example is a K series and has not developed a very creamy colour yet but probably will do over time. Imagine the feeling of creating your own patina.

The set comes complete with its original Rolex box, booklets and papers.
