Daniel Roth Masters Chronograph Salmon dial - S247

Sold

Having worked for Audemars Piguet and Breguet, Daniel Roth decided to establish his own manufacture in the Vallée de Joux. The company was created in 1989 and is one of the first independent watchmakers working under his own name. He created aesthetic codes which are distinctively his own, from the double-ellipse case to the sharply executed pinstripe; guilloché dials. Daniel Roth was known for its complex and detailed watches, including a tourbillon with an 8-day power reserve, the instantaneous perpetual calendar and the Westminster Grande Sonnerie Carillon, which was the only automatic four-gong chiming wristwatch in production in the 90th. Daniel Roth was one of the key brand names of independent watchmaking in the 1990s before it was acquired by the Bulgari Group in 2000.

The steel Daniel Roth Masters Chronograph, S247 with its double ellipse case is unique in its design. It balances between round and rectangular. With a stepped bezel and straight lugs, measuring 38mm x 41mm in diameter, with a thickness of 11,4mm.

The rare salmon, pink dial is hand engraved, line motif, guilloché pattern. With a brushed chapter ring with roman numerals. The contrast in finishing gives a satisfying depth to the design.

Details matters to Daniel Roth, 3 different shapes of hands are used. The arrow-shaped hands for the hours and minutes filled with . The lance-shaped hands for the sub-chrono-dials and the anchor-shaped hands for the Chronograph seconds and small seconds. All the hands are rendered in blue steel.

The dial indicated the 2 chronograph sub-dials at 3 and 6. A small second for the hour at 9 and a date indication between 4 and 5.

Turning the watch over, you can admire the beautiful Automatic Daniel Roth 400 movement, which is based on the El Primero and assembled by hand in the brand’s Vallée de Joux workshop, with an autonomy of 50 hours.

Born in 1969, the El Primero is still regarded as one of the best and most accurate chronograph movements ever created. It is still in production today after 51 years.

The watch is fitted with a blue grained calf strap with matching stitches that contrast the dial perfectly and matches the blued hands. The watch comes with its original Daniel Roth steel folding buckle and an original Daniel Roth box.

The condition of the watch is in absolute mint considering its age. Only minor signs of wear can be seen on the case.
