A. Lange & Söhne "His and Hers" 19th century pocket watches

The origins of the Saxon manufacturer date back to 1845, when Ferdinand A. Lange, an extraordinarily talented Dresden watchmaker, established his own company and started creating superior pocket-watches highly coveted among collectors all over the world. Unfortunately, after the Second World War, the enterprise was expropriated during the Soviet occupation in 1948 and the name of A. Lange & Söhne was almost forgotten. 

Signed A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte, no. 31766 (His) & 42348 (Hers) , manufactured in 1894.

The famous Cal. 43 is nickel-finished, hand wound by turning the crown, 43 jewels, bimetallic compensation balance with gold poising screws, gold lever and escape wheel, finely engraved balance cock, swan neck regulator with diamond endstone.

Both have white enamel dials with Breguet numerals, gold Louis XVI hands, outer Arabic railway five minute divisions. Both case and cuvette are signed and numbered.
